Family Commitment
Practices:
Our swim season runs from mid-May until about the Fourth of July. While school is still in session, we hold after-school practices on Monday through Friday. Those practices are approximately 1 hour for swimmers 10 & under and 1 hour for ages 11 and up.
After the school year ends, we transition to a morning practice schedule. Again, approximately 1 hour for swimmers 10 & under and 1 hour for ages 11 and up. We also hold evening practices for 1 hour from 7-8 pm for all ages for those who are unable to make morning practices or those who want extra time to work on their swim strokes.
We DO have practices on the days of swim meets and the day after a swim meet.
Swim Meets:
The summer swim meet season is condensed into 3-4 weeks, with meets almost
every Monday and Thursday. At a Home meet, swimmers typically arrive around 5:00 for warm-ups. The actual meet begins at 6 pm and go until 9-10pm. Factors affecting the length of a swim meet are weather conditions, the number of swimmers participating, and volunteer participation.
Parent volunteers make all of this happen. Without volunteers, the meet cannot go on. Click on Volunteer Commitments for more information.
Fund Raisers and Other Events:
We have a great time throughout our entire season. We have an End of the Season Banquet where we recognize all of our swimmers achievements with awards and prizes. The Fourth July celebration and Fall Festival are big fund raiser events with lots of fun.
Attendance
We want everyone to have a great time while participating in our summer league swim team. We realize that it is "summer". We understand that you might have vacation plans, summer camps, and other outings scheduled, but we hope that you will attend as many practices, meets, and social events as possible.
It is not necessary to alert your coach if you are going to miss a scheduled practice. However, if you cannot attend a meet (or will arrive late/leave early), we ask that you submit this information as early as possible to a coach or our team representative.
Also, families are expected to fulfill their Volunteer Commitment. Please click on the Volunteering tab for further information.
